The library regularly creates Local History related posts for our Facebook and Instagram pages.
The idea behind the posts is to increase awareness about the Local History Collection at the Library and to encourage people to share their own local stories and items such as photographs, ephemera and other items, that can be donated or copied for inclusion into the collection.

These recently digitised photographs showcase street signs and community facility signs from around Vic Park in the 1990s.
Could your house have arrived by train from the Goldfields? A hundred years ago it wasn’t unusual for workers’ cottages and shop buildings to be dismantled in regional towns, loaded onto trains, and rebuilt in suburbs like Victoria Park, where housing was in high demand.
