Visiting the Library - Code of conduct

In accordance with Town of Victoria Park’s Local Government Property Local Law 2000 Amended, while in the Library no person/s is permitted to:

  • Behave in any manner which interferes with the enjoyment of other Library users.
  • Destroy, damage or interfere with any Library property.
  • Act contrary to any lawful direction of the Library Services Manager or Officer in Charge, including a direction to leave for breach of this policy.

This is a safe space for everyone. When visting the library:

Respect staff members and other library users

  • Speak politely
  • Respect personal space
  • Follow staff instructions to keep everyone safe
  • Get written permission before photographing or filming anyone

Respect library property

  • Take care with our collections, computer equipment and furniture
  • Clean up after yourself and dispose of rubbish appropriately
  • Be aware that time on our computers may be limited by availability
  • Leave bikes and scooters outside

Respect our shared space

  • No viewing of offensive or inappropriate material
  • Use headphones when listening to audio and keep your voice at a reasonable volume
  • Wear appropropriate clothing, including a shirt and shoes
  • Maintain our space as alcohol, smoke and vape-free
  • Take responsibility for the safety, wellbeing and behaviour of any children in your care. Library staff support Child Safe Organisation principles but are not able to judge if members of the public present a danger to children
