Membership types

Regular membership

Visit the Library in person with proof of West Australian residency, full name and current address.

Child membership

Memberships are available for ages 0-18 (brand new babies are never too young to get a Library card!). Applicants under 18 years require a parent or guardian’s signature and proof of address as they will be legally responsible for the child’s membership.

If you are not a resident of West Australia or do not have a permanent address you can apply for a Online or Travellers membership.

Online membership

Join online and receive a temporary membership number and begin using the digital collection and access the library computers.
You will need to visit the library with your proof of WA address to start borrowing physical items and collect your new library card.

Travellers membership

To apply for this type of membership, please bring in a one-time deposit of $50 (cash only), to be refunded upon the termination of the membership(provided there are no outstanding charges on the account).
Temporary memberships last up to 3 months. Full Library membership privileges apply to temporary memberships.

If you are physically unable to come to the library, you may be eligible for our Books on Wheels service.
